History Hike: Eldorado Canyon
April 26 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
History Hike in Eldorado Canyon.
Hidden history will come alive as we hike through spectacular Eldorado Canyon toward views of the Continental Divide. The Fowler Trailhead is our starting point as we hike to the scenic Rattlesnake Gulch Trail. We’ll stand at the site of the 1908 Crags Hotel, imagine the tightwire walks by early 1900s daredevil Ivy Baldwin, and learn about the time when Eldorado Springs was the Coney Island of the West. It’s true that Ike and Mamie Eisenhower honeymooned at this stunning location in 1916!
Our hike will be led by Historic Boulder member Eric Malmborg, owner and founder of Bolder Adventure Travel based here in Boulder. A former instructor and course director with the Colorado Outward Bound School and former high school history teacher, Eric guides hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, and history tours of Boulder.
The fee is $12 for Historic Boulder members and $22 for general admission, and covers the cost of entry to the State Park.
