Midland Savings Bank / Atrium Building

In 2015 Historic Boulder initiated the process to establish the Midland Savings Bank / Atrium Building as a landmark. The process was delayed while the city government commissioned some studies to explore redevelopment of the east end of the Civic Center area. In early 2022, the City Council agreed to landmark this unique Mid-Century Modern building which has had two periods of compelling history; as a bank which provided mortgages for working class citizens in an explosive time of population growth, and as an important reuse as a significant office space for the city government planning offices.
